WHAT IS A DENTAL CARIES?

Dental caries, a pathological process of destruction of tooth structure by microorganisms, is also known astooth decay and is commonly called "cavities”.

The term "caries" in exact transfer means rotting. So, why this process is occur in general?

Caries arises under the influence of acids which dissolve mineral structure of a tooth with cavity formation. Acid is formed as a result of ability of microbes to live in oral cavity. Using in food sweet products (sweets, juice and fruit), we simultaneously feed also our bacteria which start to develop acid and to conduct destructive processes.

WHAT IS A FILLING?

A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. Our dentist will give you a filling, but first dentist will remove the decayed tooth material, then will clean the affected area, and only after those procedures doctor will fill the cleaned out cavity with a filling material.

By closing off spaces where bacteria can enter, a filling also helps prevent further decay. Materials used for fillings include gold, porcelain, a composite resin (tooth-colored fillings), and an amalgam (an alloy of mercury, silver, copper, tin and sometimes zinc).
